RLC Snow Policy

Richland Lutheran Church takes its lead for closures and cancellations from the Richland School District (RSD).

When RSD announces a two-hour delay, all morning activities at RLC are canceled.  When RSD announces a closure, all activities for that day at RLC are canceled.

When the Hanford Site or RSD initiate an early release for weather-related conditions, RLC also cancels remaining activities for the day.

When conditions deteriorate after school hours or on weekends, the decision to cancel events resides with the ministry leader responsible for the event.

These policies were enacted several years ago to simplify the decision-making process and to give facility staff ample time to prepare for the safe arrival of people to church activities.  Please do not come in when the church is closed.  The parking lot needs to be clear of cars and pedestrians in order to be plowed, and icy, snowy sidewalks are treacherous.

Only the most extreme circumstances would force us to cancel worship services.  Assume there is church unless you hear differently.
