Growth Groups

What is a Growth Group?

A Growth Group is a small group of 4-12 individuals who meet regularly (typically once a week) to grow in their relationship to God and each other.  In the group, they study the Bible and apply its teaching to their lives.  They experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit as they build up and encourage one another.  Healthy small groups combine evangelism (invite), spiritual nurture (grow), and calling to service (serve).

Four key elements that define Growth Groups are prayer, share, study, and serve.  growth Group members regularly pray for one another.  The small group atmosphere is conducinve to this type of intercessory prayer.

Study is another key element of a Growth Group.  Study can include topical studies, direct Biblical studies, or training.  the last of the four elements that define a Growth Group is that of service.  Each Growth Group is involved in serving outside of their group as they follow together in Christ's command to serve others.

What is the purpose of a Growth Group?

Growth Groups are desnged to connect people into relationship with each other as they grow in their relationship with god.  They are places where "community" really happens.  The purpose of our groups is to provide a safe, loving environment for individuals to share, study, and serve the Lord together.

Why should I consider joining a Growth Group?

In a congregation our size, it is sometimes difficult to feel like you "belong."  It is easy to "get lost in the crowd."  Growth Groups are great vehicles for you to grow in your relationship with God.

What is expected of me in a Growth Group?

As a member of the group, you will be expected to attend regularly, maintain confidentiality, abide by the four values (grace, love, truth, and trust), and encourage and affirm one another to a group covenant.  A trained leader will make sure you have a positive experience.
